Hillary To Washington Blade:
I Talk About Gay Rights All The Time

In an interview with Washington Blade editor Kevin Naff, Hillary Clinton refuted claims that Barack Obama speaks publicly about gay rights more than she does.

Clinton: “I talk about gay issues frequently. I’ve been a longtime friend of the gay community — I’ve been talking about these issues since 1999 when I first ran for Senate and went on record as the first major candidate to say we’re going to repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’ I talk about ending discrimination all the time.”

As for speaking about gay rights to non-gay audiences: “I find it ironic since Sen. Obama had his gospel tour with [Donnie] McClurkin that he and his supporters would take credit for that.”

The interview covers a lot of ground, mostly rehashing familiar Clinton positions on gay marriage, immigration reform, and ENDA. It closes with Clinton vowing to the be the first president to march in gay pride parade.
